The current spread of COVID-19 is a result of human to human transmission. At this time, there is no evidence that animals play a role in spreading the disease. It is currently unknown if the virus can be transmitted from humans to North American wildlife. Until we have more information, we are recommending Ohio wildlife practitioners take additional precautions. If you find any wild animal that is not visibly injured, leave it alone (don’t collect it). If you find a wild animal in need of care, work with a local wildlife rehabilitator or wildlife officer who can assess the best way to address the situation.
